To See the Condition
In PowerCADD v6, do this:
- Create a New Untitled document
- Layer 1: no layer attributes assigned
- Layer 2: assign red as the Layer Color attribute
- Draw a
Circle onLayer 1 and assign it aPen Pattern = Nil and a solid fill color of your choosing Copy orCut the object drawn in step four ontoLayer 2 - Note the
Pen Pattern is stillNil . That is , it did not change - This is
correct behavior
In PowerCADD v7, do this:
- Create a New Untitled document
- Layer 1: no layer attributes assigned
- Layer 2: assign red as the Layer Color attribute
- Draw a
Circle onLayer 1 and assign it aPen Pattern = Nil and solid fill color of your choosing Copy orCut the object drawn in step four ontoLayer 2 - Note the
Pen Pattern is still no longerNil . That is , the object now has a pen color and pen pattern assigned - This is
incorrect behavior
The issue can be a subtle but important one with some smart object tools such as the WildTOOLs door and window tools which give you the option to use white filled objects (with Nil Pen Patterns) to mask out other objects such as wall lines.

Unfortunately, there isn't an elegant work around other than resetting the pen pattern of the copied/pasted objects back to
The issue has been reported to Engineered Software for action.

This issue is FIXED in PowerCADD 8
The condition described above if fixed in PowerCADD version 8 (released March 2008).
This will requiring upgrading from earlier versions of PowerCADD (prior to version 8 ). See the PowerCADD 8 section of our PowerCADD User Learning Center for details on how to upgrade.
