To meet your project specific needs, we offer services on a fixed fee contract basis, an hourly rate or a per file rate. Discounts may apply for bulk runs. With caddpower file translation services, you can get on with design while we handle the technical cross platform (Mac <> Windows) 'digital nuances'. We do understand the 'urgency' associated with getting digital files in a time critical fashion!

Translation Fee Schedule

Schedule of Fees

Per File?: Per file translations are charged at US$30 per file with a maximum file size of 1 megabyte per file. Note: file sizes are the true, uncompressed, file size of a single document. In the case of files containing external references, the file size shall be the total combined size of all referenced files.

Hourly: Hourly rates of US$90 per hour are charged for bulk file translations, or for multiple file translations, or if file sizes exceed the maximum size noted above, on the basis of a one hour minimum and in one hour increments thereafter. Typically, if you have three or more files or you have a particularly difficult file translation situation it's usually more cost effective to purchase an hourly block of time. The number of files we can translate in a hour varies with the type of file, file size, and complexity of the data. We're happy to discuss the specifics for your particular project.

Contract: Custom fixed fee contracts are available upon request for large orders or special circumstances. Email us for more information.

Shipping: Typically all file transfers are handled electronically so no shipping costs apply. However, we reserve the right to charge shipping costs in addition to the translation service fees if physical shipping is required. Any such shipping costs will be detailed prior to commencing work.

How To Send Files

Rules of the Road for emailing us files.

Here are a few important steps to follow when sending files for translation by email. Please take a moment to review these steps as they help streamline the translation process and reduce errors.

All files should be compressed / zipped / stuffed before sending them via email - regardless - of file size. This helps ensure the file is not altered or damaged during internet email encoding and decoding. In the case of Macintosh files it also helps reduce possible problems with the Type and Creator codes getting damaged. If you are sending Macintosh files, it's helpful if they are sent from a Mac as the act of moving the file from Mac to Windows (to be sent via email) can also cause the Macintosh Type and Creator codes, or the Resource Fork of the files, to be damaged. We have a lot of tricks to try and correct the damage and problems but having a clean file to start with makes the process faster and easier for everyone Smile Attempts at repairing Resource Fork damage rarely if ever work as that data is typically the 'meat' of the file and once gone, it's virtually impossible to recover data which simply isn't there.

File? Size limits:
We have set a file size of 10 megabytes on inbound files. If the files you are sending are larger than that (when zipped or stuffed) let us know and we'll make arrangements for you to upload the files to a shared disk which bypasses email file size limits. Email Us via our web form to start the process. We'll reply and provide you with a direct email address to send the files which will confirm the nature of the work and discuss payment terms. (note: we use the web form process to reduce spam as robots scour websites looking for addresses to sell)

Macintosh and Windows users need to tell us:
1) what software application was used to create the original file
2) what version of the software application was used
3) what application and version number the translation file should be
4) what operating system and version the translated files are intended for

Macintosh Users - Compressing Files:
When sending us files via email, please make sure the files are compressed using Stuffit Deluxe or Drop Stuff (from www.stuffit.com). If you have more than one file you can compress each one or put them all into a single folder and compress the folder. Attached the stuffed archive to an email message. If you are using Mac OS? X (any version), you may also use the Mac OS X Create Archive menu command to zip the files or folder. DO NOT make the file self extracting (*.sea), please send them as *.zip or *.sit or *.sitx files.

Windows Users - Compressing Files:
When sending us files via email, please make sure the files are compressed using WinZIP. If you have more than one file you can compress each one or put them all into a single folder and compress the folder. Attached the archive to an email message. DO NOT make the files self extracting (*.exe), please send them as *.zip files.

When we send you file attachments:
When we send you files, they will be compressed as either *.zip (zipped archives for Mac OS X) or *.sit (Stuffit for Mac OS 9 upon request) or *.sitx (for Mac OS X upon request). It's important that you tell us what operating system the files are going to be opened on so we can create the correct type of compressed archive.

When sending your initial email to us, please give us a reasonably accurate file count so we can determine whether a free translation is in order.

    In it's day, Claris CAD was a great product but it's been discontinued for over 15 years (as of the date of this article). You've made the logical choice and switched to PowerCADD but really need those legacy Claris CAD drawings and libraries.     Adobe Acrobat PDF

    Creating Acrobat PDF? Files

    Acrobat PDF files are a common file format for cross platform translations for coordination with clients, consultants, printing services or for your own internal record keeping. We can create Adobe Acrobat PDF files as small as 2" x 2 inches or as large as 200" x 200 inches from your Macintosh PowerCADD, PowerDRAW, Excel, Word, Appleworks or other common Macintosh Applications (Mac OS? 9 or Mac OS X).

    Creating PDF Files

    We use Adobe Acrobat Professional to create PDF files which are rock solid cross platform solutions. Translations can be as simple as creating one PDF file or as complex as integrating multiple PDF files from different applications or drawings into a single, integrated, PDF document which includes bookmarks, internal links, movies, or other advanced features. We offer per file, hourly or lump sum rates for creating basic PDF files (please see our Translation Fee Schedule for additional information).

    PowerDRAW Legacy Drawings

    We'll bring your PowerDRAW legacy drawings back to the future...

    caddpower.com translation services reach as far back as PowerDRAW version 1.0 and are always up to date with the most current release of PowerCADD and everything in between!

    Moving forward is always an issue between software revisions. PowerDRAW, by Engineered Software, saw it's last revision to version 6 and was discontinued in 1989. Your old faithful application PowerDRAW helped you produce a great many drawings but now you need to upgrade to PowerCADD and need to bring those legacy drawings and libraries forward. Or perhaps you are using PowerCADD already but have some older drawings and no longer have the hardware to run the software and bring your drawings forward. Maybe it's just a matter of the time it takes to do the job.
