Browser Support

What web browsers does the website support?

We're proud to say this site is W3C compliant so if you are using any modern browser that supports web standards then the site will behave consistently across all those browsers.

Here's a partial list of web standard compliant browsers (some are more compliant than others):

What about Internet Explorer for Mac OS 9?
Internet Explorer 5.x was great in OS 9 and OS 8, in fact it was one of the first browsers re-written to start complying with the emerging web standards movement. Sadly, while Internet Explorer follows a few of the W3C web standard items, it falls well short of the mark these days. It falls so far short that even MicroSOFT has stated they will no longer be supporting Internet Explorer for the Mac. Sorry folks but it's time to get a better browser (a harsh statement but true).

What about Netscape Navigator?
Sorry, but again we're back to waving the web standards banner and Netscape of old just doesn't make the grade. It was a by product of the browser wars with Microsoft and sadly it's lost the fight on several fronts. Again, it's time to get a better browser.

Note that Netscape version 7.2 is based on Mozilla/5.0 and that version of the browser does work fine.

Do we have a recommended browser?
For our Windows cousins we highly recommend FireFox. This site works fine in Internet Explorer for Windows but FireFox is just better on so many levels.

For Mac OS X visitors, you really have a lot of choices. Of course the site works fine in Apple's Safari browser. Safari also has the added benefit of using the Mac OS X built in spell checker so you can spell check items on the fly before submitting a post. FireFox or Opera are also both excellent choices. In fact, this website (and many other websites we visit) actually feels crisper in FireFox than Safari -- don't ask us why -- the content is the same but it just feels quicker.

Find Tutorials

Where do I find Tutorials on this website?

Good news: this entire site is in essence a collection of tutorials based on a question and answer type format. As such, we don't have a dedicated tutorial section on the site.

Instead we collect all the tutorial content in our Learning Center. Each Learning Center section is in essence a book. Each book contains chapters of related tutorial articles. If you're simply wanting to browse the list of available tutorials to see what might be of interest you can click on any Learning Center section; each section is a book on a given subject. Each subject is broken into chapters, and each chapter contains articles or pages which contain the tutorial content.

For example, the PowerCADD User section of the Learning Center contains an abundance of articles related to using that product. Each article is a mini-tutorial designed to address a specific question or workflow issue. The same approach holds true for other sections of the Learning Center.

Of course you might have been looking for a specific tutorial on a given subject. For example you may have found this article when searching this website for the keyword tutorials. Searching is likely the fastest way to find what you're looking for but instead of searching for the keyword tutorials try searching for a keyword or words related to the question you're trying to find a tutorial on. That will typically produce a list of related items you can then view.

For example if you were looking for a tutorial on how to Email a PowerCADD drawing as a PDF? file, you could search for Email PDF or Email drawing as PDF. If you don't find a specific tutorial match to your search, try a less specific (and therefore more generic) type of search inquiry: for example searching for PDF would turn up all tutorial articles containing the term PDF.

So, if you're searching this site for the word tutorial you are missing out on a great deal of content. Think of the entire site as a tutorial collection and conduct your search or browsing habits accordingly.

We hope that helps.

Make Webpage Text Bigger

I find the text size on this website too small to read comfortably. How can I make it easier to read?

Any web standard compliant browser and Mac OS? X (same principles described below also apply in Windows)

That's a great question and it's a very easy fix.

All of the text on this site (or any website) can be made larger or smaller using standard features built into web standard compliant sites like this one, and build into web standard compliant web browsers like Safari, FireFOX and others.

To make the text bigger in Safari, do this:

  1. choose View menu > Make Bigger
  2. all text on the site will be larger, including text in the body of pages like this one and all the navigation items.

Notice that the content of the site reflows automatically to accommodate your larger text size. To make the text smaller simply go back to the View menu and choose Make Smaller

Hint:You can also add an icon to the Safari tool bar that let's you enlarge and reduce the size of text by clicking on an icon. To add Text Sizing icons to your Safari tool bar, do this:

  1. choose View menu > Customize Address Bar...
  2. a sheet will drop down from the Safari document window
  3. drag the Text Size icons from the Sheet onto the Safari Address Bar and press Done

Now you can change the text size up or down simply by clicking on the appropriate icon.

If you're using a web browser other than Safari, for example FireFOX, you're are going to be looking for menu items named something like Text Size. Typically those types of menu items appear in a web browsers View menu.

Hint: You can also use key command short cuts to do the same task, and they are often the same in man web browsers. Press Command + to make text bigger. Press Command - to make text smaller

Show Your Support

How can I show my support for the help this website has provided, and for the time and money I've saved?

We're glad you asked that question Smile

Remember, to maintain our independence, we don't accept sponsorship from hardware or software vendors to run this website. In addition to all the hard costs associated with paying web hosting fees and such, a lot of time and effort goes into creating content and maintaining this website.

The advertiser links you see (provided by Google) are one attempt to try and generate revenue. Of course, they only help if someone comes across a page on this site, finds it wasn't what they're looking for, and there happens to be an advertiser link that might help them. We're not complaining -- every little bit helps. Since, under the terms of agreement with Google, we cannot encourage visitors to arbitrarily click on advertiser links we have come up with three alternative methods noted below Smile

Buy us a Cup of Coffee

So, you read a few things here that helped you get through a little bump in the technology super highway. It might not have been a huge thing but it sure made your life easier, saved you some time and likely a few bucks too. Being the friendly sort that you are, if we worked just down the street from you, next door or upstairs, chances are you'd offer to buy us a cup of coffee or perhaps a beer to say 'thanks for the help'. That's great, we really appreciate the gesture and here's how you can make it happen.

In this online community we live in, the world has become 'right next door' so here's more about how to buy us a virtual cup of coffee to say "thanks".

Typically a large, traditional espresso style coffee at Starbucks or a similar coffee house goes for about US $5.00. If we went to Krispy Kream donuts we could get a large coffee and a couple of donuts for just about the same price but that might not sit well on our waist lines. Of course, if it was after 5 p.m. we might even share a 'wobbly pop' (aka beer or brewski) down at the corner Pub, again for about the same price.

So, if you'd like to buy us that cup of coffee then please click here and fill in the US $5.00 shareware fee field:kagi:. If you're so inclined, we'll even mail you the receipt for tax purposes, just send us an email with your mailing address and we'll put it in the mail (seriously). Smile

So, 'cheers' and thanks in advance for sharing a cup of coffee and helping support

ps. If you're prefer to just send us a check, please drop us an email and we'll pass along our mailing address and such.

Buy us Lunch

Well, something here really saved you some time and money and helped you clear a significant hurdle! Wow, that's great, we're glad we could help. Being the gracious person that you are, you'd like to buy us lunch as a way of saying thanks for the help and here's more on how you can do that.

We know this great little Mexican place just down the road. They're family owned and operated and serve up great food at really reasonable prices (we like supporting the little guy)! They do breakfast too which can be kind of nice if we've been working late hours posting articles and how to tutorials and movies, and figure it's easier to stay up and go eat than go to bed 'cos it's so early in the morning.

Lunch typically goes for between $5 and $8 bucks. Toss in a drink and a small tip and it's so close to US$10 that we'll just leave the 10 spot on the table and call it even. So, if you'd like to buy us lunch (or perhaps breakfast) please click here and fill in the US $10.00 shareware fee, quantity 1:kagi: If you're really happy and would like us to take our spouse for lunch too then you're welcome to fill in a quantity of 2 for a total of US $20 which will cover the lunch tab including tip. If you're so inclined, we'll even mail you the receipt for tax purposes, just send us an email with your mailing address and we'll put it in the mail (seriously). Smile

Thanks for buying us lunch and helping support

ps. If you're prefer to just send us a check, please drop us an email and we'll pass along our mailing address and such.

Buy us Dinner

The things you've read here have really helped save you and your staff a lot of time and we all know time is money. Gee, the boss is going to be thrilled with you (or maybe you're thrilled 'cos you are the boss!).

Now that we've helped you out and you're saving some money and hopefully having a bit more fun in the process (or you're less stressed out), dinner is what you're thinking is a fair trade. That's great, this seems like a win-win situation for everyone! Let's see how this might work.

What if we managed to save you 5, 10, 30 or even 60 minutes a week. Or perhaps we showed you something or answered a question that you just couldn't figure out that was worth hours or potentially even days of your time hunting and pecking to figure out how to make it work. If your charge out rate is between $60, $90 or possibly even in the range of $120 per hour you can see how the time and $'s can really add up fast!

Maybe we saved you, your company or the company you work for a pile of money because the answer we provided here was passed along to 3 or more staffers who now benefit from that same time/$ saving! Even if it was only 2 minutes per week it would still save you a lot of time and money over the course of a year whether you're an owner/operator, mid size or large firm.

The math can get pretty crazy, pretty quickly but it becomes apparent that saving time is saving money.

Now that we've made you some money by saving you time, we really appreciate the fact you'd like to buy us dinner as a way of saying thank you. After all, if we worked next door or down the street or upstairs you likely wouldn't hesitate since you really do appreciate good help and buying dinner just feels like the right thing to do. Well, in this internet age, we're all just down the street or upstairs so technology makes it easy.

There are many places to go for dinner here and they're all pretty good. A decent dinner at a middle of the road steak house can run anywhere from $50 on up. Other places have nice meals for the $25 range so there are plenty of choices. If we start to add in a bottle of wine then prices go up from there. If you were particularly thrilled with the level of help, education or support you received and how much money it saved you then we'd be remiss if we didn't point out we're partial to a nice after dinner drink (there is a particularly nice 25 year old single malt scotch that goes for $45/glass which we very much enjoy).

Ultimately we leave it up to you as to how much of a night out you'd like to share.

All you have to do is visit this link and enter the desired quantity in the $10.00 Shareware field:kagi: For example, if you'd like to buy us a nice $30 entree then enter a quantity of 3 for the $10 line item. That really nice steak dinner with all the trimmings would want a quantity of 5 for $10.00 line item. Of course if you'd like to include a nice single malt scotch to round out the evening then call it a quantity of 10 for an even US$100. If you like, we'll include a photo of us enjoying the evening along with the receipt for tax purposes -- just send us an email with your mailing address and we'll put it in the mail (seriously). Smile

We really do appreciate you're supporting our efforts here at You clearly understand the time=money equation and how much effort really goes into making something like this work!

Cheers and thanks again!

ps. If you're prefer to just send us a check, please drop us an email and we'll pass along our mailing address and such.

Links and Icons

Why do some links on have a small icon and what do they mean?

We use icons to help you distinguish, at a glance, what a particular link might be for or where it might take you.

Name of Link A link with no icon takes you to content within the website.

quicktime Link A link to a QuickTIME demonstration movie file.

Name of Link INTL URL An external link to content currently on the old website. As we complete the roll-over to our new website, which you are currently visiting, these types of links will eventually disappear.

Name of Link XTNL URL An external link to a website or web-page which is not located on is pretty much what it looks like, a link to a website or web-page which is not located on but the link is spelled out so it didn't need the XTNL URL icon next to it.

Name of Link :kagi: A link to the store front hosted by KAGI, a secure online payment processing service provider.

Movie Help

I'm having a hard time getting the demonstration movies to playback. Sometimes there's no audio and sometimes all I get is a blank screen. Why is that happening and what should I do?

Let's tackle the two issues, audio playback and video playback, separately.

Please read the important update at the end of this message for an important announcement regarding movie playback and the new H.264? codec

audio playback
In the vast majority of cases, movies posted on this website do not contain audio so not hearing any sound during playback is normal.

We don't include audio to better serve both high and low bandwidth visitors, and conserve server resources. Rather, we illustrate the menu and dialog commands and have written step by step instructions in the article associated with the demonstration movie. Not only does this save bandwidth but it also allows visitors with other language versions to associate the menu item positions in English with the equivalent position in their language.

In this day with higher bandwidth being available for the majority of visitors, improvements in audio Codec? technology and computer hardware, we are considering adding audio to newer content. We have to weigh the technology against the time and costs associated with creating movies with audio so we appreciate your understanding as we move forward carefully.

video playback
The majority of demo movies posted here use the On2 VP3 Codec. Over the past decade, we've found this Codec to be the optimal solution for internet performance and file size. No other Codec on the market could come close for the dollar value. If you don't have the Codec installed already, QuickTime will normally prompt you to download and install the Codec automatically. If you don't see the automatic prompt from QuickTime, you may need to install the Codec manually. While this is a rare occurrence, the steps are simple as outlined in the related article link below.

We are currently evaluating using the new H.264 Codec that Apple recently introduced with QuickTime 7 and Mac OS? X Panther (10.3.9). The amount of this codec is excellent, as is the quality of playback and small file size. We're evaluating the situation and given the wide spread adoption of QuickTime 7, and high speed internet connections, we're considering moving to H.264 as a standard for new content which is installed automatically with all versions of QuickTime 7. However, we need to carefully weight the situation as to how many of our visitors do or do not have QuickTime 7 and Mac OS X Panther, and high speed internet access, to take advantage of the H.264 codec delivery method.

UPDATE February 2007

In February 2007 we found an comptability problem with the On2 VP3 Codec and Intel based Apple Macintosh Computers. Upon a thorough review of the available open source counter parts to the VP3 codec we were unable to find a suitable substitute.

As such, as of February 2007 we have moved to the H.264 Codec which ships with all copies of Mac OS X and QuickTime. The codec also runs in QuickTime for Windows OS. We've had a great run with the VP3 Codec (over 10 years) but it's time has ended as we can't rely on an open source tool for continued and timely updates. That's not a knock on the open source community -- just a decision we've chosen to make for a variety of reasons.

So, the upside to the H.2.64 codec is great quality for large format content which we're starting to work on developing along with multi platform and multi hardware configurations -- and backing from Apple. On the down side is a marked increase in file size of the movie files. Given that broadband has become common place we don't see this as a major issue for the vast majority of our visitors. We have migrated all the old content and re-encoded them as H.264 so we apologize for any inconvenience due to the increase in file size. If the old content did not contain audio (typically they did not) then neither will the newly encoded versions.

If you try to playback a movie on intel based mac's and see the movie controls but not the content -- then that movie is still encoded with the VP3 Codec. While we've made every attempt to upgrade all the movies, it's possible we missed a few so we'd appreciate an email with a link to the page with the broken movie.

If you're running Windows or PowerPC based mac's the old On2 VP3 Codec content should still play (provided you have it already installed -- the download link will no longer work as On2 has closed that domain as of 2007).

H.264 now standard starting in 2008

Starting in 2008 we've standardized all our tutorial movies to use Apples QuickTime H.264? Codec? at a resolution of 720x480 (720p) for web delivery. While this results in a slightly larger movie file size, the quality of both the video and audio is considerably better and it allows us great flexibility in reusing the content. All movies are setup for fast web delivery so you don't have to wait for the entire movie to download; rather it will start to play as soon as possible depending on the speed of your internet connection. With typical cable broad band connections they should start playing in less and one minute on average (typically much faster).

Because of the difference between the aspect ratio of computer monitors and the standard movie aspect ratios of 16:9, there will typically be a black band running along the top and bottom of the movies which is normal to maintain the letterbox aspect ratio. In some cases, if a movie is presented in an aspect ratio smaller than 720p, the black band might run along the left and right of the image.

Because we've standardized on capturing the images at a monitor screen resolution of 1900x1280 (1080i/p if you like) we can repurpose the content for web, dvd, iphone, ipod, or podcast delivery.

Manually Installing the On2 VP3 Codec

To manually install the On2 Vp3 Codec? so all users on your computer have access, do this:

  1. click here to download XTNL URL the most recent On2vp3.component codec for QuickTime (Mac OS? 8, 9, X or Windows)
  2. instructions are included on the On2 website from the link noted above - Short Version:
    1. Extract the component from the file downloaded from the link above with StuffIt Expander
    2. drag the On2vp3.component file into the following folder: Your Startup Disk > Library > QuickTime
    3. Log out from your current user ID and log back in again for the component to load correctly (or restart your computer). The next time you visit a demo movie, the On2vp3.component codec will be available for QuickTime to correctly playback a demonstration movie posted on

If you do not have a QuickTime Folder, you can make one using File? menu >New Folder and name it QuickTime (all one word, uppercase Q, uppercase T)

Your Startup Disk = the hard drive containing the system folder used to start your computer

Stuffit Expander ( came free with your Macintosh Computer and is usually located in your Applications folder or sometimes in your Applications Folder > Utilities folder.

Here is a picture of what the correct installation of the On2vp3.component codec will look like:

If you'd like to learn more about the On2 codec visit the On2 website XTNL URL.

We hope that helps

iPhone Movie Support

When I try to load your tutorial and demonstration movies on my iPhone they don't play.

The iPhone and other hand held devices such at the Blackberry require movies be formatted / encoded in a device specific format. Movies on this site currently are not encoded in that format and as such will not playback on those types of devices.

Any new content which is posted specific to the operation or use of the iPHone will play back on that device. Any new content which is not specific to the iPhone will continue to be offered in our current H.264? encoding which will not playback on the iPhone or similar devices.

Currently, given the primary content of this site is not directed to features, applications or techniques which work on the iPhone or similar devices, we have no plans to modify our existing movie content for playback on those devices. We are currently evaluating current and emerging technologies to determine if supporting video for both the iPhone (and other devices) and traditional web browsers is cost effective and will post any news related to that decision here.

Website General Updates November 2011

The changes we've made are significant and run deep!

While it's easy to see some cosmetic differences -- all of which are still in the process of being finalized and tweaked -- the changes we've made here at are significant to say the least. Specific items of note include:

  • Software Performance: We've upgraded Drupal to version 6 (with plans already underway to go to Drupal 7 pending updates to some key modules) which is considerably faster and more reliable than previous versions. Along with Drupal upgrade came a requirement to upgrade the versions of mySQL and PHP which also brought along performance and stability improvements.
  • Hardware Performance: In the process of the Drupal software upgrade we also moved all the content from legacy hardware/servers with our hosting provider to newer, faster, and more reliable hardware. This has been a great performance benefit.

Of course, anyone who's gone through those sorts of changes knows the task is far from simple. It's not simply a matter of moving a few files, but time involved in testing and setup of configurations takes up the huge amounts of the time. We're comfortable with where were at, and even though we have little more house keeping and cleanup to do we felt it was time to flip the switch.

So, if you see some dust in the corners or a few minor rough edges like a broken link or missing graphic, rest assured we're addressing that housekeeping. However, if you do see something out of sorts we'd appreciate if you'd take a moment to send us an email with a link to the specific page that's displaying a problem.

New Features April 2008

New Site Features

As we continue to polish the new look and feel of our site for 2008 we just felt some of those new features were too good to make you wait so here's a quick run down on what we've added.

  • Popular Content: On the left you now see a new section for popular content. It lists the 5 most recently read pages on our site as determined by you -- our visitors. You can still access Recent Posts to get the latest on what's new but this mini-list gives you an overview of what other folks were reading.
  • Search: We snuck that one in a few weeks ago - we've opened searching to anonymous as well as registered users. It means folks don't need to log in to search our site.
  • More Public Content: Again, a few weeks ago we opened up the PowerCADD User Section of our site so it does not require logging in to read. Visitors still need to log in to vote on polls and post comments. We're hoping the change will make it easier for everyone to find content and see just how much content we have here -- and then signup so they can participate in posting comments and voting.
  • Resources Link: This is a big one that you are definitely going to want to check out and visit often! It appears in the primary navigation column, and it's cleverly named resources Laughing out loud. Simply click on that link to see a host of related links to articles that visitors will definitely want to check out. Click on any sub-link to see content related to a given subject. That section includes a list of related PowerCADD links, and perhaps of even greater value is a series of current links from Apple on trouble shooting tips and updates. Check that stuff out every day to keep your finger on the pulse of what's happening with Mac OS? X!.
  • Mac OS X Learning Center: We've links to the Learning Center: Mac OS X section for late breaking support articles from Apple. This is premium content that comes right from the source so make sure to check it out. For example, if you visit the Mac OS X: Dot.Mac section of our site you'll see a list of articles from Apple on how to get even more value from Dot.Mac.

We hope you enjoy these new features and take advantage of the constantly updating related content. That content refreshes automatically every 24 hours with articles over than 16 weeks from the current day being automatically deleted. The new look and feel for 2008 is progressing nicely and we're looking forward to a cleaner and crisper interface, some performance enhancements and perhaps most importantly; laying the foundation for even better features in the future.

Thanks for visiting

New Look & Features 2008 Spring Cleaning for 2008

It's been about two years since we upgrade the site to the Drupal based CMS? but it was time to freshen things up and lay the groundwork for the future. Since it's April, we figured now was as good a time as any for some Spring Cleaning. As we noted in this article, we rolled out some new features earlier this month. While those changes were essentially a few features we wanted to share, we still had more work to do -- and that work is now complete (sure, we're still cleaning up a bit but have you ever noticed how that part of the job always takes the longest!).

As part of our continuing efforts to improve our site and quality of services for guests and clients, we have completed the upgrade to Drupal 5.7 from Drupal 4.7. Here's a brief run down on what's changed and why:

  • New Look and Feel: We gave everything a fresh coat of paint but still maintained our standard color scheme and basic layout so things will still feel familiar to our long time visitors. In addition to freshening things up, the new layout gives us room to grow with respect to features and making it easier to communicate new content to our visitors.
  • Security & Performance: The upgrade to Drupal 5 gives us better performance and some improved security features which are always good things. The upgrade to Drupal 5 is also important as we continue to monitor information related to the newly released Drupal 6 which has us excited about the future!
  • Easier Maintenance: The fact Drupal 5 makes it easier for use to maintain and update both the site and it's content makes it a win-win for us and you, our visitors.
  • Article Revisions: Any time we make a major revision to an article a special link is created at the top of the articles page. Our registered users (who log in) will see a Revisions link; click that link to compare between different versions of the same article. It serves a few purposes, not the least of which is making it easy for us to track changes and keeping our regular readers informed as to both what and when we might make a significant change to content.

Of course we also added some new features so here's a quick run down:

  • Recent Polls: We now include the most recent poll on the front page. If you have registered to use this site, just log in and you can vote, post comments, or visit any of our older polls.
  • Log in: We've cleaned up the front page and moved the log in link to the top of the screen. That log in link also gives you access to create a new account or request a replacement password.
  • Two Column Layout: We've moved to a two column layout to make it easier to navigate the deeper sections of our site. Your personal navigation elements have always been on the right, and they haven't moved. When you are visiting the PowerCADD User Learning Center or any of our Learning Center or FAQ sections, the supplementary navigation for those areas now appears in the left column.
  • Search Field: We've move that to the upper left column for easier access. That location puts it right in your sight line to make it faster to find what you're looking for.
  • Primary and Secondary Navigation: You no doubt have seen we've moved cleaned up the navigation area. Now all your primary and secondary navigation links are accessed from the top of the screen, from any page. This gives us room to grow and makes it easier to find what you're looking for.
  • e-Postcard: You can now send your colleges a link to our site by using the Send e-Postcard link in your personal navigation area. Thanks for spreading the word!
  • Foward This Page To A Friend: When you read any article, you'll see a Forward This Page link associated with it. Click on that link, type your message and you can send the content to a college. Note: we always respect your privacy and we do not collect your email address -- it's simply required so the person getting the email knows who sent it!
  • Rate An Article: With several hundred articles on this site, we decided a rating system would be helpful so visitors can see, at a glance, what others thought of a given article. You see a preview of the rating when viewing a summary. When you read the whole article you can click on a rating button. If you change you made a mistake no problem; just click on the rating button again.
  • Digg: We've made it easy for you to share helpful articles here with the rest of the web workd by using XTNL URL Just click the Digg link displayed at the bottom of any article to add it to your Digg account.

Don't forget we added some other features earlier this month so check out this related article for details.

We hope you find the changes helpful and if you have any thoughts or comments please feel free to use the comment link below or the contact us link at the top of every page. As the year progresses we'll be looking at other means to provide additional features, services, and continued first rate PowerCADD and Mac OS? X related content for the CAD professional.

We hope that helps

If you found this article or the website in general to be helpful, educational or a time and money saver you can show your support. Thank you ~ Brian (huc) Huculak, Co-founder and Managing Editor, -

New Look and Feel 2006

We have a new look and feel
Our returning visitors and clients have no doubt noticed the new look and feel to this website. We've been receiving positive feedback and thank everyone who took the time to write.

The old website, created using iBlog XTNL URL served it's purpose well and we think that product was, and still is, a great choice for many things. However, we simply out grew it in terms of the amount of content we were generating, how it needed to be organized and many other factors.

After looking long and hard at several different products over the better part of a year we decided to go with the Content Management System you see here, Drupal XTNL URL Among the many benefits a CMS? provides (including that little ? mark you see next to the term CMS, go ahead, put your mouse over it and click), we how have a great deal of flexiblity in creating and organizing content, and in adding new features as time, money, energy, and interest permit.

You have no doubt noticed we've moved to a registered and guest type content structure. Long time visitors to may recall we tried something similar in the late 1990's. At that time the techology to do the task was just to cumbersome to be practical and we abandoned it... thankfully technology has come a long way Smile Fundamentally, requiring visitors to register before accessing premium content let's us know who and how many people are seriously interested in the content and service we provide on this website. That information, when used in conjunction with traditional website logs, we how have some tangible facts to make informed decisions about the future. We understand and respect your privacy and spell it all out in our privavcy policy.

So, we look forward to seeing you here online, thanks for visiting, and we hope you find the information here helpful and that it helps get you through some of the bumps on the technology highway.

Thanks for visiting.

Oops... why are you seeing this page

Why are you seeing this page?

Some content on this site requires visitors to be registered and logged in to view it; we refer to that as premium content. However, don't give up as there are some common reasons why you're seeing this page and there are some easy things you can try to correct the problem:

  1. Links from other websites: If you were following a link that was posted on another website, it's likely the link from the other website was to premium content on our site; that means you need to be logged in here to see that content so try Logging In and try the link again. Don't have an account? No problem, you can set one up.
  2. Someone emailed you a linked page from this site: It's possible a friend of yours emailed you a page or a link to page on this website. If that person was logged into this site and viewing premium content, then you'll also need to be logged in to view that content. If you have a user ID, log in and try the link in the email again. If you don't have a user id, you can register for one, then log in and try the emailed link again.
  3. Internal Links: If you clicked on a link from a general article it might lead to premium content. Please login and try the link again or try searching this website for a more up to date link.
  4. Forgot your Password: If you forgot or lost your password you can Request a New Password. You may change the password after you have logged in. Remember, passwords are case sensitive. The password field will display a Caps Lock symbol as a reminder to turn off your Caps Lock key when entering passwords. If you password contains case sensitive characters use the Shift key instead to enter only those characters.
  5. Access Privileges: If you are currently logged in and received this error page, then you may not have sufficient access privileges to view a particular page or perform a particular task. You can Contact Us describing the content you were trying to access or the task you were trying to perform and we will review your request for additional access privileges.

Features and Content restricted to registered users only include:

Page Not Found but you can try...

Looking for something at

We're sorry. We tried really hard but after looking everywhere on our site we just can't find the page you requested. However, don't give up as there are some common reasons why that might have happened and there are some easy things you can try to correct the problem:

  1. Links from other websites: If you were following a link that was posted on another website, it's possible their link is obsolete or incorrect. We recommend searching our website to find what you're looking for. The search field is located at the top of every web page.
  2. Search Tip: If you don't find anything your first attempt, try being less specific. For example, if your first search was for I can't wrap text around a graphic in iWeb try searching for iweb text wrap or text wrap. An Advanced Search link is also available on the search results page with even more searching options.
  3. Lists of Recent Posts: Our site automatically keeps a list of new or recently updated articles. Try using the Recent Posts link on the right of the screen, it's possible what you were looking for is in that list.
  4. If you typed the URL? yourself, please make sure the spelling is correct and that you have the complete path. In some cases URL's are case sensitive. Searching this site is likely a quicker way to find what you're after.
  5. If you clicked on a link within there may be a problem with the link or you may not have logged in. Please login and try the link again or try searching this website for a more up to date link. If you suspect the link is broken, please send us an email detailing what you were looking for and we'll do our best to correct the problem.
  6. Try using any of the links at the top of this screen, what you're looking for may be in one of those frequently requested sections of our website.

We apologize for any inconvenience and if you still can't find what you're looking for please Contact Us and we'll do our best to help.
